SUMMARY:Arts In Healing (July 29-August 10\, 2022)
DESCRIPTION:Arts In Healing: a new show in Charleston\, SC focuses on the healing arts. From the announcement: \nIn the past\, the arts have seemingly been disconnected from health care but today\, new research and the development of artistic interventions in health care environments create a symphony of activities designed to support patient healing. Studies Show…highlights artworks from the Arts In Healing’s collection alongside medical research to both justify and advocate for the inherent healing powers of the arts. Through a reconsideration of MUSC’s permanent art collection alongside new acquisitions\, this exhibition chronicles the advancements of the arts in healing.

SUMMARY:Being Human Festival\, 14-23 November 2019
DESCRIPTION:Being Human Festival: celebrating the UK humanities in various forms\, November 2019. From the announcement: \nThe humanities help us understand what it means to be human. We think that new ideas in this area – from archaeology\, art history\, philosophy\, languages\, literature\, history\, classics\, cultural studies\, music\, theatre and theology – should be open to everyone. \nBeing Human is the UK’s only national festival of the humanities. A celebration of humanities research through public engagement\, it is led by the School of Advanced Study at the University of London\, the UK’s national centre for the pursuit\, support and promotion of research in the humanities\, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy. \nHeld in November each year\, the nationwide festival brings together universities\, museums\, galleries\, libraries\, community and commercial partners to stage stimulating and engaging activities that make research accessible and relevant\, strengthen community identity\, and increase understanding of the relevance of the humanities to everyday life. \nEvery year we support researchers in the humanities – from art history and classics\, literature and languages\, history and philosophy – to produce non-traditional events and activities with a strong emphasis on co-production and mutual benefit.
